🌟 National Special Education Day 🌟
Let's give a shout out to our Special Education Team here at Anne Sullivan. These 5 individuals work with students' kindergarten through 5th grade on their Individualized Educational Plans. Working on specific goals both in the classroom and small group setting, instruction is focused on learning academically, socially, emotionally, and functionally each day.
Thank you to this team for all of their hard work and dedication to our students each day!

🦷 National Flossing Day! 🦷
Flossing is important for individuals of all ages! The benefits of flossing once a day help tremendously with your overall mouth health and health in general.
Children's Dental Health shares that kids should start flossing teeth at age 2-3 to help prevent gum disease and improve gum health.
Flossing along with brushing each day helps to get to those hard-to-reach places between the teeth and under their gums. Flossing your children’s teeth each night helps your kids form healthy habits that will last a lifetime!

November 22nd, 2024 is National Substitute Educators Day.
Let's take a moment to say Thank You to our substitute teachers here at Anne Sullivan and in the Sioux Falls School District. Without these individuals we would not be able to serve our students each and every day when teachers, EAs, support staff and others need to be out of the building. Our substitute teachers do a phenomenal job stepping in, picking up where learning left off, and loving our students.
Thank you for all of your support and hard work!
If you or someone you know would like to be a substitute teacher or support staff, please reach out to the Sioux Falls District Office!

👧🏽 National Child's Day 🧒🏾
Today we take the time to recognize our amazing students and all of their hard work each and every day. National Child's Day is a day to celebrate the full potential of our children and all they can achieve with our support, guidance, love, and perseverance! Our students build the hope for the future and all that it has to hold!

Today is National Educational Support Professionals Day! In the Sioux Falls School District, these special individuals are known as Educational Assistants (EAs). They work with a variety of students in numerous settings throughout the day. From supporting our littles with school routines, communication, and beginning learning to our upper-level students completing bigger tasks, interacting with others, and learning new skills, they do it all!
🌟 Here at Anne Sullivan we truly appreciate all of our EAs and their hard work each and every day with our students! 🌟

😖😲 Did you know that November 6th is National Stress Awareness Day? 😵😳
Stress can impact anyone. From our students to elderly individuals there is all kind of stress that one can deal with from day to day. It is important that we not only help our students but help ourselves to be aware of and manage our stress the best we can!
Things to try:
-take a break
- get outside and enjoy nature and fresh air
- find a hobby or do something you enjoy
- breathe, always take time to slow down and breathe
- reach out to a friend or family member
"Sometimes all we need to do is pause for a moment, take a deep breath, and stay calm."

November Focus - Leader in Me - Habit 3 - Put first things first
This month we help students understand the concept of "Work first, then Play". We help students to know that there maybe things they WANT to do but also things they HAVE to do in order to take charge or their learning and prioritize their work. This skill will help them later in life when they become an adult, a parent, an employee, a boss, etc.
"Understand what is important and then prioritize your time and efforts, this leads to the most successful outcome."

Things you can do at home:
-Have a special space for your student to read
-Check out the local library
-Read a book or two at home before bed
-Listen to your child read to you
-Ask them about books they read at school
"Reading opens the door to opportunities and dreams we never knew we had."
