5th Grade Civil War Presentation!
Yesterday, 5th grade students got a special visit from Kevin Gansz from the Old Couthouse Museum! They got to learn all about the Civil War and do some role play!
For the second year in a row, the Sioux Falls School District is proud to be called one of the Best Communities for Music Education by the National Association for Music Merchants Foundation. Wow! SFSD is so grateful to the Sioux Falls STORM, LEVO, and media partners KELOLand TV for supporting Operation Hope & Caring where $18,417 was raised to support elementary schools that don't have PTAs/PTOs. We had a great time at the game and especially enjoyed the WIN! ❤️

5th graders had a wonderful day at the Omaha Zoo! Got to explore all of the exhibits, enjoy a picnic lunch, and do lots of walking!!:)
They are estimated to be back to Sioux Falls around 5pm!

Today 1st grade students got to enjoy a day away on a field trip! With science, arts, psychical activity, farming, and so much more all students had the day to explore!

Washington High School Graduates come to visit Anne Sullivan!
Yesterday we had specials guests come over and march the hallways of Anne Sullivan. Past Anne students came in their graduation gowns to see students and teachers and all celebrate together!

Tonight is THE night! Come out to support SFSD elementary schools without PTAs/PTOs as the Sioux Falls STORM take on the Green Bay Blizzard. It's also Star Wars night, so wear your gear and bring your lightsaber to this fun family event sponsored by LEVO Credit Union!
The Weather Service indicates the greatest threat of severe weather did not materialize in Sioux Falls. We will begin our bus routes at approximately 3pm, so there will be a slight delay in getting elementary and middle school students home. High School dismisses at normal time.
Due to the weather 4-30-24, SFSD will hold all elementary students who walk or ride the bus until the system passes. We expect the system to arrive about 2:45pm and be done around 3pm. Busses will not leave the elementary schools until it is safe to do so. This will also cause a delay in middle school bus routes, so plan accordingly. If wx is still an issue at high school dismissal time, we will encourage students to wait to leave until the system passes. Thank you.
Weather may cause some challenges at school dismissal time today. SFSD will make plans with your child's safety as our highest priority. If there are changes, parents/guardians will be contacted immediately. We ask that you please monitor your phone and email closely.
Football & Star Wars Fans Unite! Fri, May 3-7:05pm Sioux Falls STORM take on the Green Bay Blizzard to support Operation Hope & Caring, a fundraiser for SFSD elementary schools without PTAs. Wear Star Wars gear, grab a light saber, and get in on the fun!
2nd Grade Field Trip to the Washington Pavilion!
Today our 2nd grade students got to leave school for a little bit to enjoy the Kirby Science Discover Center! Lots of time to explore, play, and learn all things science!
🎲 FAMILY GAME NIGHT TONIGHT!!! 🎲
The Anne Sullivan Game Night is tonight from 5:30-6:30pm. ALL ARE WELCOME! 🎉
There will be board games and pizza provided for all. At the end of the night, you can take the game home!
5th Grade Middle School Transition is upon us!
Yesterday was the first of a few different visits with Whittier Middle School and other middle school staff to prepare our 5th graders for their upcoming transition. The Whittier Middle School Counselors came to talk to students and parents about what middle school will be like, what to expect, the "Whittier Way", and upcoming visits.
5th Grade parents, more information will be coming home in the next few weeks about Middle school, signing up for classes, and a summer jump start opportunity. If you have any questions in the meantime, please feel free to contact your student's teacher or the school.
Testing Continues!
This next week we will continue testing for 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade. Younger students will start the following week. As students work hard at school, sleep at home is increasingly important. Research tells us that sleep is critical for physical health, academic performance, and mental health! 😴
Let's work together to help all of our students do their best each and every day!
3rd Grade Field Trip!
Today our 3rd grade students got a little break from school to visit the Washington Pavilion! They went to watch "Doctor Kaboom Science"!
If your family wants to attend there are performances Saturday, April 13th @ 11am, 1pm, or 3pm!
Upcoming Testing!
Calling all parents and guardians, we need your help! We have less than eight weeks left to prepare your student(s) for the next grade level, but we are up to the task! Starting next week will being Spring testing with all grade levels. Here is how you can help:
* make sure they get 10-12 hours of sleep a night... Sleep is IMPORTANT!!
* eat a well-balanced dinner & breakfast
* READ at home!
