📚 Everybody Reads 📚
The 3rd Annual Everybody Reads initiative is intended to encourage reading throughout our schools and community by tracking how many books are read from Friday, March 1, to Friday, March 22, 2024.
Students, staff, parents and community members will track how many books they read. The school libraries and the public Siouxland library branches will have a weather-themed visual display set up in their buildings.
Thanks to Overdrive, Follett, and Bound to Stay Bound, we will make a donation to REACH Literacy for every 100,000 books read! We hope you will all participate and help us reach a city-wide goal of reading 300,000 books between March 1-22!

The importance of routine and structure for children!
Spring feels like it is just around the corner! As we approach the last 12 weeks of school, I wanted to remind you of the importance that routine and structure have for our students. Not only do routine and structure help kids to feel safe, but it also helps them to develop lots of important skills such as independence, time management, and self-discipline. Routine and structure provide a framework that supports the academic, social and emotional growth for students and helps set them up for success in school and beyond. Here are a few ways you can help your students maintain a positive routine and schedule:
1. Set Clear Expectations (reading time, family chores, and other responsibilities)
2. Create a consistent schedule
3. Provide Support
4. Encourage Healthy Habits (Exercise, eating nutritious foods, drinking water and limiting screen time)
5. Limit Screen time (Too much screen time has a negative impact on brain development and attention and emotional well-being)
6. Set a Bedtime Routine (Consistent bedtime each night, brush teeth, read a book and no screen before bed)
By utilizing these strategies, parents can support their children’s routines there by promoting a sense of stability, security and well-being in their daily lives.

🌧 ☀ "Rain or Shine, Everybody Reads All the Time!" 🌧☀
This school-wide and city-wide reading challenge starts Friday, March 1st!!
Each day in March students and teachers will track how many books they read each day. We will then track the number of books we read using raindrops.
*Students can add tallies for books they read at home in the morning when they come to school.
🙂 If we reach 300,000 books read across the whole city, then REACH Literacy will receive $1,500. 🙂

1st and 2nd Grade Field Trip!
Our students got to enjoy a trip to the Washington Pavillion to watch a play and enjoy a trip away from school.
